Light of Stars is not a fixed installation repeated from venue to venue. Scale, architecture, sightlines, public use and programme all shape the final composition.
Bath Abbey
Winter 2024/25
The first full Light of Stars installation demonstrated how a large visual intervention could become part of a working historic building for an extended season.
The installation was designed to work with the Abbey's height, long views and stained glass. Its physical presence remained legible in daylight, while the illuminated stars created a different atmosphere after dark.
At the heart of the display, the Advent Star illuminated the Abbey's nativity scene as a symbol of hope, unity and peace.
Crucially, the Abbey did not need to become a dedicated show space. Visitors, worship and seasonal programming continued beneath the installation.

A long relationship with Bath
Under the Same Stars.
Paper Starlights has been part of Bath Christmas Market for more than 20 years. Light of Stars extended that relationship with the city into Bath Abbey.
The installation also became the focal point of the second Bath Lights the Night, created by Bath Business Improvement District in partnership with Bath Carnival under the theme “Under the Same Stars”. Local musicians performed beneath the installation, and Paper Starlights donated paper star lanterns for parade participants who had not been able to make their own in the workshops.

Upcoming installation · winter 2026
Leicester Cathedral
Leicester Cathedral has confirmed Light of Stars for autumn and winter 2026. The Cathedral's published programme combines ordinary daytime viewing with services, talks, music, film, dance, heritage activity, community events and seasonal experiences.
The programme demonstrates how one installation can provide a consistent visual setting for different audiences and activities across a season.

Initial conversation
Photographs, dimensions, likely dates and a sense of how the building is used are enough to start.
Site and design development
We consider scale, hanging positions, sightlines, access, technical requirements and programme opportunities.
Installation planning
Responsibilities and competent rigging arrangements are agreed with the venue and relevant technical partners.
Installation period and removal
The installation can support normal opening and programmed activity throughout the agreed installation period before a planned de-rig.
